Senator Ali Ndume, the Chief Whip of the Senate, has reiterated his stance against relocating certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos.

Ndume emphasized that Lagos is already overcrowded and not the appropriate choice for such a move.

In a statement he personally signed, the senator from Borno state stated, “I stand by my position regarding the relocation of FAAN and certain departments of the CBN to Lagos State. If the intention is to decongest, Lagos is not the right place for it.”

Ndume further highlighted that the CBN has offices in all the states across the country, questioning the necessity of moving these departments to an already densely populated city like Lagos.

Since expressing his concerns, the senator has faced criticism and accusations of harboring animosity towards the Yoruba people. In response, Ndume dismissed these claims, deeming them ignorant and baseless.

The senator remains firm in his belief that relocating these institutions to Lagos is not a viable solution, highlighting the need for a more thoughtful and strategic approach to address the issue of congestion.
