Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has expressed his outrage at the murder of a secondary school teacher in Jalingo, the state capital, by a group of students. Governor Kefas emphasized that no teacher should lose their life while carrying out their duty of imparting knowledge.

In a press statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, Governor Kefas described the incident as deeply regrettable and a reflection of societal decay. He called on parents and stakeholders to enhance their supervisory roles over their children both at home and in school.

The governor also highlighted the issue of drug use among youths as a major contributing factor to such vices in society. He urged security agencies to spare no effort in ensuring that the perpetrators of this heinous crime face justice, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation into the underlying causes of the incident.

Governor Kefas reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the challenges within the educational system. He emphasized the importance of securing schools and creating a safe learning environment as part of the government’s free education policy, which aims to secure the future of the youth.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Bassey Sarduana Nkuphee, was allegedly stabbed to death by one of his former students, who conspired with friends from the school. The police have confirmed the incident and are conducting investigations into the matter.
