The Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has carried out a picketing exercise at the office of the State Chief Justice.
The protest is in support of several JUSUN members who claim to have faced persecution under the leadership of the embattled Chief Justice, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo.
The Chairman of Osun JUSUN, Oluwagbemiga Olakunle Eludire, addressed journalists on Monday at the premises of the Osun State High Court, where the office of the Chief Judge is located. Eludire clarified that their grievances were distinct from the actions of the state government.
Eludire explained that their protest stemmed from several issues, including the non-release of their wardrobe allowance from 2021 to date, despite the availability of funds allocated by the state government. He also questioned why the government’s directives on promotion and career advancement were not implemented as approved.
Furthermore, Eludire raised concerns about the unlawful suspension of prominent JUSUN members without proper investigations conducted in accordance with public service rules.
He declared that they would persist in their protest until appropriate actions were taken to address their concerns.
