Governor Malam Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has expressed his intent to closely monitor the actions and performance of newly-appointed commissioners, heads of government agencies, and parastatals.
He made this statement during his opening remarks at a two-day retreat for members of the Jigawa State Executive Council and other top government officials held in Kaduna on Monday.
Governor Namadi emphasized that his administration is committed to holding top officials accountable for the effectiveness of their respective ministries, departments, and agencies in enhancing the economic well-being of the state’s citizens. He explained that a system would be put in place to track the activities of these officials, including defining specific milestones and performance indicators, with a focus on real-time performance assessment. He also mentioned that they would seek support from partners such as PERL-ARC.
The governor acknowledged the valuable partnership with development organizations like FCDO, UNICEF, and Save the Children, which has assisted the state in addressing some of its challenges. Abubakar Tijjani, representing FCDO, reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the state’s 12-point agenda and pledged ongoing collaboration with the Jigawa State Government.
This event was organized in collaboration with the FCDO-funded PERL-ARC program, under the theme “Accelerating Socio-economic Development for a Greater Jigawa.”
