IPOB urges Igbo to leave Nigeria as they are no longer welcome

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have expressed their discontent with the perceived biased treatment of Igbos in Nigeria and have suggested that the only solution is to establish their own independent country.

According to a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, on Sunday, Igbos have been subjected to mistreatment in recent events, including an attack on IPOB members by security agents during a peaceful protest in Aba, Abia state.

The statement further stated that the Nigerian government and its security agencies allowed the Shiite Islamic group to protest peacefully twice in Abuja without any harassment, whereas they murdered IPOB members who were also demonstrating peacefully in Aba for the unconditional release of their leader, Kanu on April 3, 2023. The statement concluded that the actions of the Nigerian government and its security agencies have demonstrated that the Igbos are unwelcome in Nigeria, and therefore, it is imperative for them to organize themselves and depart Nigeria for other nationalities who are permitted to act freely in the country.
