To support the electoral process in Kogi State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has deployed two National Commissioners, nine Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), Administrative Secretaries, and additional staff from various states.
This was disclosed by the National Chairman of INEC, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, during a press briefing prior to the Kogi State governorship election.
Prof. Yakubu assured that all sensitive and non-sensitive materials required for the election have been delivered. He also mentioned that the Bimodal voter accreditation system, which includes voter verification and fingerprint/facial biometric authentication, has been configured for deployment to polling units.
The INEC Chairman further stated that polling unit results would be uploaded to the INEC result viewing IReV portal. He emphasized that the successful conduct of the Kogi State Governorship Election is a shared responsibility among multiple stakeholders. Prof. Yakubu called for the support of all stakeholders in ensuring a peaceful and credible electoral process.
The deployment of two National Commissioners and nine RECs, along with additional personnel, underscores INEC’s commitment to ensuring the smooth and transparent conduct of the Kogi gubernatorial polls.
