Hundreds of members of the Kwankwasiyya movement gathered in Kano on Thursday to conduct special prayers.
The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently contesting the victory achieved by Yusuf, representing the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), in the March 18 governorship election in Kano State.
As the tribunal prepares to render its judgement in this governorship election dispute, the Kwankwasiyya members are fervently appealing for divine intervention.
These prayers involved both male and female followers of the NNPP presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The rituals took place at various locations, namely Zaria, Maiduguri, Hadejia, and Gwarzo roads, which serve as the principal entrances to the Ancient City.
During one of these prayer sessions, Hajia Zuwaira Abubakar, the State Chairperson of the NNPP Women Group, expressed their intentions. She disclosed that they were praying against individuals determined to unseat Yusuf from his position as the governor of Kano State.
She said, “We are aware of the notorious and criminal underground moves to snatch our hard-earned victory of the NNPP government in Kano State and to which are asking Allah to take care of those behind such moves”.
Abubakar firmly stated that they would not permit a few dissatisfied individuals to strip Yusuf of his triumph in the gubernatorial election. She characterized the governor’s win in the election as a ‘resounding mandate.’
