Stringent security measures are evident at the Isabo Magistrates Court in Abeokuta, where the Ogun State Election Petition Tribunal is convening.
Today, Saturday, marks the day when the tribunal is set to render its verdict on the petition brought forward by Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
As early as 6 am, the Isabo area surrounding the court has been cordoned off and closely guarded by a significant presence of both armed and unarmed police officers. The security deployment includes personnel from various police divisions in Abeokuta.
Furthermore, personnel from the Department of State Services and the Ogun State Amotekun Corps were present to maintain law and order in the vicinity.
To ensure security and control access, all routes leading to the Isabo court have been blocked off, preventing both pedestrians and vehicles from entering the area. Notably, two armoured personnel carriers were stationed prominently in front of the court premises.
The court proceedings are scheduled to commence at 9 am.
