Harry Kane outlines Tottenham ambitions and drops fresh transfer hint amid Man City interest

Harry Kane has reiterated his desire to play at the highest level as he reflected on Tottenham’s prospects under Antonio Conte.

Kane was a summer target for Manchester City after starting the summer 2021 transfer window by declaring he wanted to leave Spurs and compete for Premier League and Champions League titles.

Ultimately, despite Kane’s best attempts to force a transfer, Spurs refused to negotiate for their star striker and the England captain was forced to back-track and remain at the club.

After Nuno Espirito Santo’s tenure didn’t last long, Antonio Conte was installed as manager at Spurs, with a top four finish the aim as well as a possible FA Cup challenge.

“He’s one of the best managers in the world,” Kane told Sky Sports ahead of the Premier League clash with Chelsea, telling Spurs to take advantage of Conte’s appointment.

“We’ve not really reached the heights we’ve wanted to as a club over the last few years. It’s a big opportunity now as a club to take advantage of what we’ve got. He’s a manager who demands a lot and I’m sure he’s had conversations about getting players who he wants here.

“That’s down to the chairman and him. We need to take advantage of having one of the best managers in the world. As players we’ve responded really well to him and everyone’s working as hard as possible to get success and that’s the ultimate goal for everyone here.”

Offering a hint into his future plans, Kane appeared to suggest that his intentions of winning silverware remain as strong as ever, without explicitly committing his future to Spurs beyond the end of the current season.

He continued: “I just want to be playing at the highest level possible. My focus is fully on this season and trying to get as high up the league as possible.

“We are still in the FA Cup and are trying to win a trophy as it is every year. I am not going to go into loads of detail about anything else going on. It is just about working hard for the team and trying to improve as I know I can and score more goals than I have this season. That’s where my focus is on this season and trying to make it the best one possible.”
