Governor Sani Mourns the Death of Popular Actor from the NTA 1980 Series "Samanja"

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State expressed his grief on Sunday over the passing of Alhaji Usman Baba Pategi, a renowned actor, producer, and director widely known as Samanja Mazan Fama.

In a press release by Muhammad Lawal Shehu, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kaduna State, it was stated that the governor received the news of Pategi’s demise with shock.

The statement highlighted that Pategi had captivated the nation with his acting talent during the 1980s. Through his portrayal of the character Samanja in the NTA drama series that depicted the lives of soldiers in the barracks, he became a familiar and beloved face in millions of homes.

Born in 1942 into the Royal Pategi Family, Pategi had a distinguished career. He served in the Nigerian Army and worked at the old Northern Broadcasting Corporation, where he honed his skills as an actor, writer, and producer.

Governor Uba Sani extended his deepest condolences to the family on behalf of the people of Kaduna State. He also requested prayers from well-meaning Nigerians during this difficult time.

“May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus and forgive his sins,” said Governor Uba Sani, expressing his hope for Pategi’s soul.
