During the third combined convocation ceremony of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State urged graduates to take responsibility for creating jobs, both for themselves and others.
Represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, the governor emphasized that graduation is a time to set new goals and targets. He urged graduates not to become complacent but to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired. The governor expressed that both the public and private sectors would benefit from their education and professionalism, while the entrepreneurial world eagerly awaits their ideas.
Governor Oborevwori commended the achievements of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, including the inauguration of a 350-capacity lecture hall, volleyball and basketball courts, a multi-purpose court, and an ICT Microsoft Certification Centre, among other projects. He called on the polytechnic’s Governing Council, management, and staff to continue improving and maintaining the enabling environment and peaceful atmosphere that foster serious academic activities.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing conducive learning environments in public institutions through the provision of adequate infrastructure, laboratory equipment, and ensuring a peaceful environment for both staff and students.
Chief Jonathan Arausi, Chairman of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic, appealed to stakeholders, corporate organizations, and people of goodwill to collaborate with the Delta State Government in sustaining the polytechnic as a global center for academic excellence.
The rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his dedication to the growth of education in the state.
The convocation ceremony also included the presentation of awards to deserving individuals.
