Former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka, has claimed that some individuals who are currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for financial fraud are part of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
Chidoka, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made these allegations in a statement he released on Sunday, which was subsequently shared with journalists.
In his statement, Chidoka also criticized the President for appointing a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a minister. The appointment of Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, raised concerns as reports indicated that she was still undergoing her compulsory one-year NYSC service at the time of her appointment.
Chidoka’s remarks were made in response to a recent court order from the United States directing Chicago State University to release President Bola Tinubu’s academic records to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election. The former minister described the ongoing battle between Atiku and Tinubu over academic qualifications as a “national disgrace.”
Chidoka further expressed his dismay that institutions allowed a person to be sworn in as President without conclusive information about their qualifications, considering the matter surrounding Tinubu’s educational background. He also highlighted the concerning presence of individuals under investigation by the EFCC, who have been publicly identified, serving in the Federal Executive Council. Chidoka questioned how they passed through security screening processes.
