Former Chairman of Benue Local Government, who was abducted, has been released and is now free

Hon. Amina Audu, the recently suspended chairperson of Okpokwu Local Government Area in Benue State, encountered a harrowing incident when she was abducted by armed herdsmen while traveling along the Makurdi-N’aka road.

Alongside two others, she was taken into the bush by the assailants. However, after a few tense days, relief swept over her loved ones as she was released unharmed on Thursday evening, reuniting with her family.

The news of her release was relayed by Vistanaij Media. However, attempts to corroborate this information with the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, proved unsuccessful.

The unsettling event serves as another stark reminder of the security challenges faced by individuals navigating certain routes in various parts of the country. The abduction of a public official underscores the pressing need for concerted efforts to address the security issues that continue to plague certain areas, causing distress and fear among citizens.

Despite Hon. Amina Audu’s fortunate return, the incident serves as a distressing example of the security vulnerabilities faced by many, demanding urgent and effective measures to safeguard lives and ensure safer travel along these routes.
