The Federal Government has strongly criticized the accusation that prison warders were involved in collaborating with terrorists, deeming such claims as treasonable.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, expressed his disgust towards the allegation, labeling it as despicable.

The statement comes in response to the claims made by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, who alleged that certain prison officials were aiding Boko Haram members in planning their terrorist activities. Musa further asserted that these warders were assisting terrorists in moving their funds.

During an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the minister stated that such actions would be considered treasonable, as it goes against the oath taken by government officers to protect the country’s integrity. He emphasized that compromising national security by colluding with terrorists is unacceptable and unimaginable.

The minister emphasized that the gravity of the offense cannot be ignored or swept under the carpet, as it poses a serious threat to the nation’s security. He assured the public that the government is committed to safeguarding the interests of Nigerians and will not tolerate any attempts to undermine the country’s security.
