FCT plans to collaborate with Italy on sustainable city development and tourism - Nyesom Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced plans for the FCT Administration to collaborate with Italy on sustainable city development, tourism, and agricultural initiatives.

This statement came during a meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefano Leo, in Abuja.

Governor Wike expressed his intention to personally visit the Italian Ambassador to further explore areas of mutual benefit between Nigeria and Italy. He emphasized the significance of sustainable city development, tourism, and agriculture in the partnership, highlighting Abuja’s potential for agricultural and tourism growth due to its favourable landscape.

Governor Wike clarified that the recent publication of embassies and commissions owing ground rent was aimed at enhancing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and would be reinvested in the city’s development. He assured the ambassador of creating a conducive environment for embassies, commissions, and businesses to thrive in the FCT.

Ambassador Stefano Leo congratulated Governor Wike and expressed optimism about their cooperation. He noted Italy’s focus on tourism and its plans to support sustainable city development and green cities. The ambassador welcomed the opportunity to strengthen cooperation and host Governor Wike at the Italian Embassy.
