The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has made an accusation against the Department of State Services (DSS), alleging that they are holding their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in illegal detention.
According to IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the DSS is using this situation to blackmail the group, citing concerns about insecurity.
Powerful expressed these concerns while urging the public to disregard claims regarding the neutralization of operatives from the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Arochukwu and Enugu forest. He clarified that the viral pictures and videos circulating, depicting military actions, were related to the invasion of the camp of the Biafra National Guard (BNG), not the ESN.
Furthermore, Powerful emphasized that the BNG is not affiliated with IPOB and has never claimed any association with the group. He stated that the Nigerian government’s repeated attempts to blackmail IPOB and ESN over the years have failed due to IPOB’s commitment to pursuing self-determination within the framework of international laws.
In their view, Nigeria’s security agencies, particularly the DSS, have allegedly sponsored armed groups in Biafra Land while unlawfully detaining Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB maintained that their disciplined approach has consistently distanced them from these sponsored criminal activities.
