Enugu Governor, Mbah, Calls Off Stay-at-Home Protests in Biafra

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has officially announced the cessation of sit-at-home protests within the state, effective from Monday, June 6, 2023. Governor Mbah expressed concern that these protests were impeding creativity, entrepreneurship, and productivity in Enugu.

Furthermore, the governor emphasized the government’s willingness to engage in dialogue with individuals who have genuine grievances, with the goal of achieving lasting peace and security in Enugu State. In addition, he called on President Bola Tinubu to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, highlighting the potential for his release to expedite the much-needed healing process in Nigeria.

Governor Mbah made this declaration during his first security council meeting, which took place at the Government House in Enugu. The meeting was attended by the heads of all security agencies, as well as Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai. During the meeting, the governor reminded the people of Enugu that he had immediately embarked on his duties upon inauguration, signing three executive orders to promote good governance in the state. One of these orders, Executive Order 002, focused on the removal of unauthorized street barriers throughout the state within 100 days.

Governor Mbah reiterated his commitment to swift action and meeting the expectations of the mandate entrusted to him by the people. He emphasized that there was no time to waste and that he was determined to deliver on the promises made.
