The Ekiti State Government has taken the decision to suspend Dr. Olaolu Olubiyi, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the State Specialist Hospital in Ikere-Ekiti.
This suspension comes in response to allegations of serious misconduct made against him. Dr. Olubiyi has been directed to promptly hand over his responsibilities to Dr. Akinsipe Catherine Iyabo, a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
In an official statement released by the State Ministry of Health and Human Services in Ado-Ekiti, it was clarified that the suspension of Dr. Olubiyi was initiated by the State Hospitals Management Board. The decision was made due to the gravity of the allegations of gross misconduct against him, which appeared to contravene Ekiti Public Service Rules 030301(ii) and 030402(x). As a result, the suspended CMD is prohibited from carrying out his official duties until further investigation takes place, as outlined by the State Public Service Rules.
The statement reiterated the government’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance, diligence, and dedication to duty. It also emphasized Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s unwavering stance on maintaining zero tolerance for violations of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
