Ejovwokeoghene Stephanie Avbenagha (born 22 January) is a Nigerian lawyer and creative who is popularly known as Ejay Stephanie. 

She is a fast-rising Afropop singer and songwriter based in California, United States. She is also an entrepreneur and brand influencer. 

Ejay Stephanie is the brain behind the hit single, Strong, which was released in July 2022.

Early Life

Ejay Stephanie was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Avbenagha on the 22nd of January in the mid-90s. She hails from the South-South region and hails from Delta State (nicknamed The Big Heart). She was born and raised in Edo State. She spent her formative years residing in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.

Ejay Stephanie is her nickname, coined from her first and middle name. Her parents named her Ejovwokeoghene Stephanie Avbenagha. She comes from a large family and has eight siblings. She is blessed with four sisters and four brothers, whom she adores. 

She was raised in a religious household, and her parents adhere to the Christian faith. Growing up, she and her family worshipped at a local church in Benin. Her love for music can be traced back to her teenage days when she was a local church choir member. She was a devoted Chorister, which helped her develop her vocal ability and songwriting skills.

She spent her free time composing gospel and pop songs during weekends and school breaks. Ejay Stephanie learned how to play the keyboard during this period and has become a skilled keyboardist through years of practice. Education

Ejay Stephanie underwent elementary and secondary education at leading Benin City private schools. She graduated from high school with flying colors in her West African School Certificate Examination. 

After that, she decided to study in her home state. She applied to Delta State University, Abraka, and studied for a Diploma In Law (2009-2010). She gained admission into Delta State University‘s undergraduate law program after completing the diploma program. She bagged a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the institution in 2015.

Spurred by her success in obtaining her law degree, Ejay Stephanie decided to study at the Nigerian Law School (NLS), so she could practice law. She graduated from Law School in 2016.

Career

Ejay Stephanie aspired to be a Lawyer from an early age. Since her middle school days, she dreamt of becoming a certified lawyer and worked towards achieving the goal of getting good grades in the university. After passing the Nigerian Law School, she was called to the Nigerian bar and qualified to practice law. 

She practiced Law for a few years in Nigeria before emigrating to the United States Of America. She took up residence in the state of California and decided to enter entrepreneurship. Over the years, she has launched and managed successful SMEs from the United States.

Ejay Stephanie is also a thriving musician. By the time she gained admission into the university, she had decided to switch to mainstream music and stopped creating gospel songs. Instead, she focused on making Afrobeats music. As an undergraduate, she penned down many Afrobeats songs. Some of the songs were lucky to make it to the studio and were released for the consumption of Ejay Stephanie‘s small fanbase. Over time, she has honed her singing and songwriting skills. She has groomed herself into a better Afrobeats artist and created her distinct sound. She released a Nigeria-themed song, Pray 4 Naija, in 2019.

In July 2022, Ejay Stephanie released the single, Strong. The song is her biggest single so far and has increased her popularity in the Nigerian music scene. Strong has amassed thousands of streams over the months and has positioned her as one of the female Afrobeats rising stars to watch out for.
