The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken steps to address the controversy surrounding the recent shooting incident at Garki Market in Abuja.
To investigate the matter thoroughly, the DSS has established an internal investigative team.
Last week, the Garki Market was plunged into chaos when individuals identified as DSS personnel attempted to make an arrest and resorted to firing their weapons, causing panic among the traders. Tragically, this led to serious injuries to at least two traders, one of whom is a tailor.
In a statement released on Thursday by the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, it was disclosed that the service had recently visited the two injured individuals in separate hospitals where they are currently receiving medical care.
The statement further revealed that the DSS personnel allegedly involved in the shooting have been apprehended by the police.
Despite this, the DSS assured that it would not interfere with the ongoing police investigation into the matter, even though its own staff members are in custody. This commitment underscores the agency’s dedication to ensuring a fair and impartial inquiry into the incident.
