Dr. Adedoyin, Owner of Hilton Hotel, Receives Death Sentence for the Murder of OAU Student, Adegoke

Dr. Rahman Adedoyin, the owner of Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, has been sentenced to death by hanging by the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo. This verdict comes as a result of his involvement in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University.

Justice Ojo, in her judgement, declared that Adedoyin, along with two of his employees, were found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and the unlawful killing of Adegoke. The prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, presented compelling evidence that established their culpability.

The tragic incident unfolded when Adegoke checked into Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Ile-Ife on November 5, 2021. He had arrived from Abuja to ensure he would be present for his examination at the OAU Distance Learning Centre in Moro, Osun State, scheduled for November 6 and 7, 2021. However, he mysteriously disappeared after checking in.

Following a police investigation into the matter, Adegoke’s lifeless body was discovered buried in a grave. The investigation focused on the hotel owner, Dr. Rahman Adedoyin, and his employees, eventually leading to the arrest of seven suspects.

This tragic incident prompted law enforcement to take swift action, resulting in the thorough investigation and subsequent legal proceedings that have culminated in the sentencing of Dr. Rahman Adedoyin to death for his involvement in the murder of Timothy Adegoke.
