DHQ: Troops in Pursuit of Terrorists Who Ambushed Yobe Governor's Convoy

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has provided an update on the efforts being made to locate and neutralize the terrorists responsible for the ambush on the convoy of Yobe State Governor.

The incident occurred on the Maiduguri-Damaturu road over the weekend.

Although Governor Mai Mala Buni was not present in the convoy during the attack, the Secretary to the Yobe Government and other high-ranking officials were part of the convoy and managed to escape unharmed.

According to Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Defence spokesperson, the 29 Task Force Brigade successfully repelled the attack, which took place approximately six kilometers from Benisheikh. He further stated that ongoing operations, led by the brigade commander and additional troops, are underway to locate and eliminate the terrorists responsible for the ambush.

The casualties from the attack included one police officer who lost his life and five other personnel from the military, police, and intelligence escorts who sustained injuries. The wounded individuals are currently in stable condition receiving medical treatment.

The Defence Headquarters reiterated that the ongoing operations are aimed at preventing any future threats targeting government officials in Yobe State.
