Delta Governor Calls for Collaboration in Niger Delta Development

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has called for collaboration between the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and state governments to ensure the Niger Delta region benefits from quality projects during Prsident Bola Tinubu’s administration.

He made this statement while receiving the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Abubakar Momoh, and his delegation in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized that such collaboration is essential to enhance the living conditions of the people in the region. He highlighted the challenges faced by the state due to the poor state of federal roads, such as the Warri-Benin Road and the East-West Road, stressing the need for immediate action to address these issues.

The governor underscored the importance of giving proper attention to the Niger Delta region, which generates significant wealth for the country. He urged the Minister to ensure that road projects, security, and other critical aspects receive the necessary focus. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of addressing youth restiveness and the erosion affecting riverine areas in the region.

Minister Abubakar Momoh explained that their visit to the state was part of a stakeholder’s visit to the Niger Delta region to assess the current situation and challenges. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the Ministry and state governments to promote development and peace in the Niger Delta region. Momoh also mentioned the renewed hope agenda initiated by President Bola Tinubu and the eight presidential priorities aimed at improving Nigeria’s overall development. He encouraged the Ministry and state governments to identify key areas for partnership to ensure better progress in the Niger Delta region.
