Davido, the well-known Nigerian afrobeats singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, has expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of winning a Grammy. However, he clarified that he did not release his latest album, ‘Timeless,’ with the sole purpose of chasing awards.

In a recent interview with Brut, Davido shared his perspective. He described himself as a digital artist, but highlighted that for his collaboration with The Cavemen and Grammy-winning Beninese legend Angélique Kidjo on the track ‘Na Money,’ he decided to record it live.

Davido’s remark reflects his genuine excitement about the prospect of receiving a Grammy, while also emphasizing his artistic choices and intentions behind his album release.

He said,

“I was happy that I was out of my space and able to deliver that song [‘Na Money’]. Because I’m a digital artist; I record music digitally.

“But for that song [‘Na Money’], we had to record it live because The Cavemen record live.” 
“If I win a Grammy, I will be happy, but I didn’t make this album [‘Timeless’] because I wanted to win anything.

“I made this album going into it, you know, happy, natural, you know what I’m saying!”
