Men of the anti-graft agency stormed the embattled senator’s Abuja residence on Tuesday, May 24. They broke into his home and whisked him.

According to the commission’s spokesperson, Wilson Uwajuren, Okorocha’s home was invaded to effect his arrest because he jumped bail and refused to accept court processes from the commission.

“Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today May 24, 2022, arrived at the Maitama, Abuja home of a former governor of Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha, to effect his arrest.
“The move followed the refusal of the former governor to honour invitations after jumping the administrative bail earlier granted him by the Commission. In the circumstances, the Commission is left with no option than to effect the arrest of Senator Okorocha and bring him to trial,” Wilson said in part in a press statement released on Tuesday.

However, a video showing the moment Okorocha went spiritual and prayed to God to come to his rescue has gone viral after it was shared online.

In the video, the senator is seen praying with his family members as the EFCC operatives repeatedly bang on the door to his room.

“My Lord and my God, come and help me. I thank you, Almighty God.” He said it repeatedly.
