Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Declares Three Days of Mourning for Late Maj Gen Chris Alli

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has declared a three-day period of mourning to pay tribute to the late Maj Gen Chris Alli (retd).

In a statement by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, it was announced that Gen Alli, a former Chief of Army Staff, passed away on November 19, 2023.

As a symbol of collective grief and respect, all Nigerian Army formations and units have been instructed to hoist their flags at half-mast. Additionally, all personnel have been directed to wear a black hand band in remembrance of the late former COAS.

The statement highlighted Gen Alli’s unwavering commitment and professionalism in serving the nation through the Nigerian Army. It expressed the Nigerian Army’s solidarity with the family, friends, and loved ones of the late Maj Gen Chris Alli during this time of grief.
