Canada Grants Visa-Free Travel to Morocco, Seychelles, and Other Countries, Excluding Nigeria

Canada has recently expanded its list of visa-free travel destinations, excluding Nigeria while adding two African nations.

The Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, made this announcement in a statement on Tuesday.

The visa-free travel privilege has been extended to 13 countries from various regions, including Asia, Africa, Central, and South America. The countries now included in this list are Antigua and Barbuda, St Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts-Nevis, Panama, Argentina, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Morocco, Seychelles, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Thailand, and the Philippines.

Despite the inclusion of Morocco from North Africa and Seychelles from East Africa, Nigeria, the most populous nation in Africa, was not included in the list.

An expansion of the electronic travel authorization better known as the eTA programs makes it easier for “known travellers” from those countries to come here for fun and business.

According to him, the expansion will not only improve convenience for travelers but also generate increased travel, tourism, and economic advantages. Additionally, it will foster stronger global connections with the 13 countries involved.

“The known travellers from these countries can save a lot of money as a result of the visa exemptions.”

The current cost for a visitor visa is $100 per person, while a family of five or more is charged $500. However, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) is a more cost-effective option, priced at only seven dollars per person and valid for a duration of up to five years.

The government states that the introduction of visa-free air travel will significantly enhance the speed, convenience, and affordability for numerous travelers wishing to visit Canada. Whether it’s for business or leisure purposes, individuals will be able to stay in the country for up to six months, thanks to this initiative.
