Buju started his career in the ever-evolving Nigerian entertainment industry as an Afro-Fusion singer and record producer by randomly posting his freestyle songs on his social media accounts and tagging already-famous Nigerian artists on them. Burna Boy signed BNXN to his record label, Spacemanship. 

Moreover, Daniel Benson became more well known after he was featured in the popular Nigerian artist Ladipoe’s single tagged “Feeling.” What’s more, he has achieved so much for himself within this short period.

Change of Name

On February 17th, 2022, Daniel Benson, whose stage name was Buju or Bujutoyourears, changed his name from Buju to BNXN. Daniel was known as Buju until he noticed that there is a popular, Jamaican Grammy award-winning singer named Buju Banton. Posting about this new finding on his Twitter account, Benso pointed out that he had been mistaken for the singer, thus he changed his name to BNXN, pronounced like his first name, Benson.

Ruger vs. Buju

While Ruger was engaging his fans on Twitter on July 14, 2022, he directed shades at Buju when he was asked: “if his record label boss D’Prince had told him that Buju BNXN was a better singer and his granddad in music.” Ruger noted that the difference between him and BNXN is that all his hits were just him, not features or covers of other artists’ songs like that of Buju. The singer also said he is always proud to go on stage around the world to perform his hit songs and watch people sing along with no help.

Ruger’s response to the question, which didn’t go down well with a lot of fans, was “I love Buju.” He’s good, but he’s not better than me. Everything I’ve done since the beginning was only RUGER. All my hits are JUST RUGER. I’m always proud going on stage around the world with my own hits and everyone is singing along. You see the difference?”

However, Buju replied to him by saying, “You are owing your boss money and you are talking to a boss?”

Buju’s fight with the Police

Buju was seen in a video that trended on social media where he was involved in an altercation with them. He accused a police officer of slapping him and spat in the face of the officer while saying he was proud of his action.

The police media officer, Hundeyin, made it known via his Twitter page on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, while reacting to a tweet shared by the pop star.

“@BNXN proudly tweeted that he ‘spat in [sic] a police officer’s face and it felt so good.’ He has since deleted the tweet. The police officers will be sanctioned for their misbehaviour if established, while @BNXN will surely answer for his assault on a police officer, ”
