Ben Bruce Criticizes NLC and TUC, States Strike is Detrimental to Nigeria's Interests

Ben Murray Bruce, a former federal lawmaker, has expressed his opposition to the indefinite strike called for by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

According to Vistanaij Media, the NLC and TUC issued a directive to all their affiliates, instructing workers across the country to cease their services starting from Tuesday.

The labor unions are responding to an incident where the NLC president, Joe Ajaero, was allegedly assaulted by personnel of the Nigeria Police in Imo State.

However, Ben Bruce criticized this course of action, emphasizing that it does not serve the national interest.

“Initiating a nationwide strike based on a singular incident in just one state, which is already being addressed, is not in the best interest of Nigeria,” he cautioned.

“While it may further personal interests, it will harm the overall national interest. Power should not be wielded to settle scores but rather to promote our economic and democratic progress.”

He called on the Nigerian Labour Congress to approach the situation rationally and prioritize the national interest, advocating for peace to prevail.
