Nigerian artist Bella Shmurda has expressed his grief and concern over the sudden and mysterious death of his close friend and colleague, Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba.
Bella Shmurda took to his Twitter page to share his feelings about the tragic loss.
In a series of tweets posted on Sunday, the singer revealed that he has been struggling to cope with the loss and claimed that Mohbad’s spirit has been haunting him since his untimely death, which occurred on Tuesday. Bella Shmurda mentioned that he has been contemplating his course of action while waiting for the Nigerian police to investigate and apprehend those responsible for Mohbad’s maltreatment.
He wrote, “For the past few days now, I have been deliberating on what to do while waiting for the authorities of the Nigerian police to at least get one or people involved in maltreatment and malicious act towards Mohbad. Since he died his spirit has not left me – saying a lot of things in my head, pointing hands to people that need to be dealt with in my dreams.”
Bella Shmurda also revealed that Mohbad had submitted numerous petitions against individuals who had been harassing him. He criticized the Nigerian Police Force for what he perceived as nepotism and a lackadaisical attitude towards the matter.
In a petition dated June 27, 2023, the late Mohbad had alleged that a music promoter named Sam Larry and 15 others, all armed, had stormed a video shoot location where he and another artist, Zlatan Ibile, were working. They allegedly threatened to cause harm.
However, when contacted by a Vistanaij Media correspondent on Thursday night, the Police Public Relations Officer, FCID Annex, Lagos, Oluniyi Ogundeyi, revealed that the police couldn’t take action on the petition because Mohbad had not come forward to adopt, defend, or provide evidence to support his allegations.
