Armed assailants destroy the home of a House of Representatives member in Imo

In a disturbing incident, unidentified gunmen targeted the residence of Chief Canice Moore Chukwugozie Nwachukwu (Omeogo), the Federal House of Representatives member representing Orlu, Orsu, and Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.

The assailants set ablaze the lawmaker’s country home, located in Isioma, Abara village, Amanator Okporo Community within Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. This distressing event occurred during the early hours of Thursday.

According to a source from the community named Peter Anaele, Chief Nwachukwu was not present at his residence when the armed gunmen arrived. He described how the hoodlums, armed with firearms, explosives, and other dangerous weapons, forcefully gathered the lawmaker’s domestic staff at gunpoint before proceeding to set the building on fire.

Anaele recounted the unsettling details, mentioning that the intruders looted valuable possessions and belongings, captured footage of the staff, and issued threats of more severe attacks. Subsequently, they used petrol, which they had transported in two 20-liter containers, to set the houses ablaze with the aid of explosives, bombs, and dynamites.

The shocking incident has instilled panic and apprehension within the community, as reported by Vistanaij Media.
