On Monday, it was announced that midfielder Kim Little will be out for the season due to a hamstring injury. Little, who first joined Arsenal in 2008 and has made 290 appearances for the club across two spells, has scored an impressive 164 goals. Despite the setback, Arsenal is currently in third place in the WSL, with a match against league leaders Manchester United on Wednesday.

Kim Little, the captain of Arsenal Women’s team, has signed a new contract with the club despite being sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury. Little sustained the injury during Arsenal’s 2-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich on March 29, and the club confirmed on Monday that she would not be able to play for the rest of the season.

Despite the setback, the 32-year-old midfielder has chosen to extend her stay with Arsenal. Little has an impressive track record with the club, having made 290 appearances across two spells and scoring 164 goals since first joining in 2008.

Arsenal is currently in third place in the Women’s Super League, three points behind league leaders Manchester United. The team faces Manchester United on Wednesday, and Little’s absence will undoubtedly be felt. Nevertheless, the Gunners will be buoyed by the news that their captain has committed to the club for the foreseeable future.

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Arsenal,” said Little. “Thinking back to when I first joined at the age of 17, I’m so proud of the progress that we have made together.

“Arsenal has been such an important part of my life and over time this club has become my home. It continues to be a privilege to represent Arsenal and I’m still so motivated to move this club forward and to be a part of its success.”
