Actress Iya Gbonkan Overwhelmed with Joy as Nigerians Donate Over N5 Million in Response to Her Plea for Help

In response to the plea for help from veteran Yoruba actress Margaret Bandele Olayinka, widely known as Iya Gbonkan, Nigerians have stepped forward to offer their support.

Last month, Vistanaij Media reported that the actress, who has been in the industry for decades, expressed her lack of owning a car. She shared her daily struggle of relying on buses to reach her destinations.

Iya Gbonkan appealed to her fans to acknowledge and celebrate her while she is alive, rather than waiting to honor her memory with extravagant gestures after her passing.

“I have been acting for decades yet I don’t have a car. I jump on buses every day. If I die now, you will kill a cow. Celebrate me now that I am alive. I need a car from my fans”.

In a heartwarming update, the veteran actress has received a substantial sum of money from generous Nigerians. The report indicates that Pastor Gabriel, who came across the video, reached out to her and even paid her a visit in Osogbo. Recognizing the importance of her dream, he swiftly organized fundraising efforts by reaching out to kind-hearted individuals worldwide.

As a result of these efforts, an impressive sum of over 5 million Naira has been donated towards fulfilling her aspirations of owning a car and securing housing. This outpouring of support demonstrates the compassion and generosity of people from various walks of life.

In a display of solidarity within the entertainment industry, fellow Nollywood actresses Abeni Agbon and Tamotiye, who reside nearby, also contributed to the cause by donating a sum of 500,000 Naira. Their contribution further amplifies the unity and support within the community, as they rally together to uplift one of their own.
