2 men set ablaze for raping, dismembering girl in Enugu

A mob Monday set two men ablaze in Ede-Oballa, Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The suspected ritualists were lynched for allegedly raping and dismembering a 10-year-old girl.

The body of the deceased was found in a nearby bush with her breast and vagina removed.

“The natives had expressed worry that ritualists are now in the community.

“Only ritualists will rape a girl to death and remove her vital organs for their evil acts”, a source told newsmen.

Though the suspects were arrested by the Neighbourhood Watch, residents did not allow the operatives to transfer them to the police.

A mob rushed to their office, overpowered them and took the duo away.

President-General and Councillor representing the community, Messrs Val Omeje and Hyginus Ogbu confirmed the incident

They also confirmed that the suspects hailed from the community.

Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe said he’ll provide an update on the matter.
